The Summer Update for 2024 will be a small interim update similar to last year's Spring Update to tide things over until this year's Annual Update arrives later this year. This Devblog will touch on the development roadmap again and run through the significant changes coming in this update. Update 58 is a minor release primarily focused on improvements and fixes instead of new content.
Roadmap
Update 58 will be mostly a maintenance update, as the next major changes coming to Foxhole will arrive later this year with Update 59. While Update 59 will be an annual update with new gameplay and content, it will be significantly smaller in scope than annual updates from prior years like Inferno or Naval Warfare.
Beyond this year, the team is already working on a new phase of development that will take Foxhole to new and exciting places in 2025 and beyond.
Update 58 Preview
Below is a quick preview of what's coming in Update 58. There is no new content in this update as the focus is instead on tuning and low key improvements. For a full detailed rundown on all the changes in Update 58, please read through the release notes which will be published alongside the Dev Branch soon.
Facility Quality of Life
Many quality of life changes have been made to Facilities based on received feedback. Some of these new features are highlighted below.
Excavator Excavator modification added to all Stationary Harvesters, allowing continued production when a Resource Field is depleted | Power Resources The Diesel Power Plant and Power Station now stop using resources when there is no consumption on the network | Production Resuming Production Orders that are paused due to a lack of resources now resume instantly when sufficient resources are provided |
Personal/Public Persistence Swapping between recipes now maintains the selected Personal or Public option instead of defaulting to Personal | Foundation Reservations Foundations can now be Squad Reserved | Stationary Harvester UX Stationary Harvesters now show a failure message when there are no Resource Nodes to be mined |
Other Improvements
This update contains dozens of other small improvements, many which are highlighted below. Besides what's shown here, there are also tweaks to the options screen, optimizations, and other minor but meaningful UX changes.
MPF Reservable Crates Reservable Crates can be used in Mass Production Factory orders when being used from a Shipping Container | Crane UI Placing a Shippable at a structure with a Crane and reopening the UI of said structure will continue to display the Crane's associated Shippable | Train HUD All Train Car passengers can now see the Train HUD |
Refueling Sources Refueling a vehicle or structure now checks all nearby liquid sources for valid liquids, not just the closest source | Multi-Liquid Fueling Multiple liquid types can now be refueled simultaneously in structures that can hold multiple liquids | Reset Passcode Button
This resets the passcode, revokes access to all other members of the Reserve Stockpile, and hides the Reserve Stockpile if it is publicly visible
